Auto Login in Windows 7, Windows 2008 & Windows 2008 R2

First thing I normally do on my test machines and home PCs is to enable Auto Login so that it does not wait for me to enter my login name & password. There are multiple option to do this but the simplest option is as below: 1.  Open Run command window (to open it, press Windows+R keys) 2. Enter control userpasswords2 in the run windows 3. This will open user account windows 4. Uncheck the option “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” and click Apply. It will ask to enter the password for the account. Enter the password and click OK. 5.  Final screen will look like this. Next time when you will reboot your machine then it will not ask for username password. Disclaimer: Do not use this on your office & work computers as auto login expose the security issues in case of loss of your computer.

ISSUE: When I try to install Windows 7 on my home desktop computer (Compaq Presario SR2020NX) it show me following error message. “Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information.” RESOLUTION: After some search & research I found that this issue is because I have 2 hard disk in my desktop computer. I run the setup again and everything work perfectly fine. Also after install I re-connected my 2nd hard disk without any issue. ALTERNATE OPTIONS: that did not work: 1. Delete other partition on the hard disk where I wanted to install Windows 7. But I did not delete or format the 2nd hard disk. 2. In the BIOS setup I verify and updated

MSDN Download Link Disable Grayed-Out – For Windows 7 Windows 2008 R2

Some people are complaining that their Download link for Windows 7 & Windows 2008 R2 is disable (grayed out) and they cannot download it anymore. The problem is that they might have MSDN subscription but going to the Microsoft Technet subscribers site – http://technet.microsoft.com and not to the Microsoft MSDN subscriber site – http://msdn.microsoft.com . WordPress On Windows – A Step By Step Install Guide

Following steps are based on my personal experience of installing WordPress and other required software on Windows Vista Enterprise. But based on the documentation I referred and reference in this post, these steps will work on Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista and Windows 2008 server.  These steps are so easy that anyone can follow whether regardless of any past experience with Apache, PHP, MySQL or WordPress. I am a .NET developer and never used Apache, PHP, MySQL before. So if I can do it then anyone can :). I use XAMPP for my installation. XAMPP  provide an easy and one step installation of Apache, MySQL which are needed by WordPress.  There are two type of packages that you can download. XAMPP and XAMPP Lite. XAMPP comes with an installer while for XAMPP Lite you will have to run some batch files to install and run/stop services. I chose to install XAMPP (installer version). Step 1: Download XAMPP from http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html#646 .
